How to Use a Clear Pour-Over Dripper for 1–2 Cups

Pour-over coffee becomes easier when the setup is small enough to repeat. A clear dripper lets you see the filter, coffee bed and water level as you brew, which is helpful when you are learning to pour more slowly and consistently.

What you need

  • A dripper that sits securely on your mug or server
  • One compatible paper filter
  • Ground coffee
  • Hot water
  • A mug or server

The Slow Mill Clear PC Pour-Over Dripper includes one clear ribbed dripper and 50 white paper filters. The mug, server, kettle and coffee shown in lifestyle images are not included.

Five simple steps

  1. Set the dripper in place. Put it securely on a suitable mug or server, then place one paper filter inside.
  2. Rinse the filter. Pour hot water through the empty paper and discard the rinse water. This helps the filter sit flat and warms the vessel below.
  3. Add coffee. Add your chosen amount of ground coffee. A medium-fine grind is a useful starting point for many cone brewers; adjust gradually based on your coffee and taste.
  4. Pour in stages. Start with a small amount of water to wet the grounds, then continue with slow, circular pours. The clear body makes it easier to see the water level and coffee bed.
  5. Let it drain. Wait until the coffee has passed through before removing the dripper and serving.

What to watch while you pour

There is no need to chase a perfect-looking brew. Watch for simple signals instead: the filter should stay open, the dripper should sit steadily, and water should drain through rather than overflow. If a brew tastes too strong, weak, fast or slow, change one thing at a time on the next cup.

Common beginner questions

How many filters are included?

This set includes 50 matching white paper filters. Use one filter per brew and keep the included filter as a reference when you later buy replacements.

Will it fit every mug?

Check that your mug or server has a stable opening and can support the dripper securely. The product page lists approximate dimensions; compare those with your own vessel before ordering.

Do I need a gooseneck kettle?

No. A gooseneck kettle can make a slow, controlled pour easier, but you can begin with a careful pour from a kettle you already own. If you want a dedicated option later, see the Slow Mill Gooseneck Pour-Over Kettle.

Which paper filters should I reorder?

Filter names and shapes vary. Match replacements to the filter shape and dripper specification rather than choosing by a familiar name alone. Our filter guide explains what to check.

Keep the first setup simple

You do not need a full coffee bar to make a calm cup at home. Begin with a dripper, compatible filters, coffee and a mug. Once the rhythm feels familiar, add a grinder, scale or kettle only if it helps your routine.
